honestly speaking,
golf set, complete from driver to putter 14pcs, for rm600 can go buy china made fake/imitation golf set.
even if u want branded, rm600 can get only irons which are second hand and at least more than 5 years old.
after obtaining iron set, look at driver, woods, hybrids, wedges and putter, easily another rm500 added.
drivers, woods and hybrids if rm50 each, then those are like more than 6-8years old clubs. which don't have much technology and lower cc heads. wedges and putter easily will invest rm300.
so fuad, i think u better convince ur friend to top up his/her budget cos with these clubs, he/she aint getting that far with it.
how will he/she enjoy the game of golf(learning), to be fun? no technology to aid the driver? later say tak syiok la cos everyone use newer stuff.
to me irons are the most important clubs in the bag. i always advice beginners to take on a good iron set that has a long lifespan.
lifespan as long as up to 5 years, cos in the midst of learning and eventually getting a handicap, the iron set should serve at least 3 years until an upgrade at mid handicap.
an example,

great to begin with, can take it slow or crash course. will last very long, and mizuno's are known for their irons.
u can pm talk to me about anything, im not ranting or flaming, just giving my opinion based on experience. cheers
