Played over at the Lake 18 recently.

I must say, this is a golf course with great diversity. Some holes are challenging, some OK, some long, some short. I like the variety in this course, you won't get bored so easily.

Greens are fast paced and rather hilly, easily testing your nerves when putting for par. Very Happy

Overall, very matured course, rather challenging, very interesting. Definitely return to play here.

Only complaint, the course is cow-grass, and the greens are very hard. Makes it very hard to attack the pin, as landing on the green from approach will only make you lose your ball, unless you're playing backspin. Beginners like us who can't spin usually chip & roll the ball into the green, hoping to put it near the hole. Unfortunately, the cow grass absorbs most of the impact of the bounce, so you have to aim the 1st bounce of your chip near the fringe. Very nice for apron chips, but impossible for approach.

Another option is to hit very high approach, and make sure your ball falls vertically onto the green. Having said that, it's easier said than done mostly...unless you're Tiger Woods. Very Happy

Played (Lake course) there last friday and kinda enjoyed myself except for the greens conditions. According to another member there, the greens are under maintenance and we predicted the speed to be around 4.0 to 5.0!! Sandy and uncut grass on the greens & putting was really difficult. 3 putted 3 of the holes and most of the putt was left short. The other 18 was so much better (according to the member) and we will try it out again this week. Interesting layout and the weather was so HOT ... Best of all, we continued to play the next day and we played in the Mines. Can anyone imagine, the next day .. the Mines greens were 9.5 and pin was generally tucked behind the greens!! Luckily the views, layout and condition of the golf course made it up!! The entire golf course was so quiet and maybe it is Puasa mth!

i've been a member at KRPM since 2001.
Generally a nice & challenging course... especially for newbies (i.e. beginners & first-time visitors).

a quick walk through the course(s):
- there are two 18-hole courses i.e. the Lake (for handicap players) and the Hills (for all)
- the Lake, well, as its name suggests.... water is in play almost every hole throughout the 18
- the Hills has its water traps but tight fairways is the real challenge
- greens are generally on the slow side and having played there for many years, the greens invite aggressive play and generally provides good "bite"
- course maintenance every week - take note:
> Mon: The Lake (1st nine) until 3pm
> Tues: The Lake (2nd nine) until 3pm
> Wed: The Hills (1st nine) until 3pm
> Thur: The Hills (2nd nine) until 3pm
- however, players are allowed to "mix" any combination of 9-holes between the Lakes/Hills.
- fairways on The Hills are generally harder and more narrow
- because its a cow grass course, going into the rough an be very punishing. Advice: in some holes, just play safe and punch the ball out for the next shot Wink

The members & staff at KRPM are generally friendly lot.

If you are planning to visit the course, drop me a line.
i play on weekdays (when not traveling on biz) and weekends (sometimes).

For bookings, please make advance arrangements i.e. book by Mon noon (latest) to avoid disappointment of weekend tee-off.
Rates (18-holes + buggy):
> Weekdays: ~RM85 (Buggy 50% discount from Mon-Thur before 10am if accompanied by member)
> Weekends: ~RM180

Hey KH

I am keen to play also. Must remind myself to bring extra balls there. There are many water hazards to tackle though. Let's see how many balls I will "donate" to the club this time Razz

I know another Rahman Putra member who can "ular" and play with you guys. Let me know if you need another golfer to join in.

p/s : I heard the course was designed by the late Tun Ghafar Baba who also designed the Air Keroh Country Club in Malacca. Can someone confirm this ?

Hi YH,

Yes, i believe KRPM was designed by Tun Ghafar Baba. Not sure if Ayer Keroh is under his belt too.

YH & KH,
Shall we target a date next week for a game @ KRPM?
I suggest morning tee-off on 28/29/30 May - as the "championship" course is under maintenance on Mon & Tues.
Let me know early.

Cheers,
Victor

it is worth to note that the caddies are not up to par.
you have to look for your ball yourself.
they just stand there.

we played there this morning and that was what happened.

if the club forces you to take caddies, say NO. otherwise, you will be poorer and furstrated too.

what's the point right?

btw, we gave the caddies' rating the worse rating available.

krpm, buck up or lose customers.
