Just played Impian Kajang last Sunday.

Nice course.

But boy, they really pack the traffic tightly. We were chased by the flight behind, while being blocked by the flight in front. Felt like the USJ morning jam. Surprised

Green really bites (a lot more than Glenmarie), so that took some getting used to.

Bunker was wet with all the rain, so it's basically hardpan. Can any sifu offer guidance on what to do in a hardpan bunker?

Fairway was narrow so, errant shots are severely punished because the course is on terraced ground. Blew a couple of holes this way.

As a beginner, I'm still slow in preparing my putts, I need to learn to putt faster. Much to be learnt.

Here's a panorama of Hole 17 I stitched together from 3 shots using the PhotoMerge feature of Adobe Photoshop.

for hardpan bunker, either use low bounce wedge or dun open too much when you hitting,

Or, if normally you hit 1 inch before the ball, then for hardpan bunker you gotta hit closer. Many ways to do it

my comment nothing to do with hardpan lie or whatsoever as I m not a good bunker player

just on the photo, nice job...it would be even better if it's take 1 more step back so that the tree is not cropped as well Wink

Thanks for the tips bro.

No wonder my hardpan shots always airmail the green.

I must have been bouncing off the hard sand and skulling the ball.

Just wondering, what's the effect of opening it too much? I have a problem opening it less especially when there's not a lot of green to work with and I need to get it up quickly.

Hey, thanks for the photography tip, lil puppy.

I overlooked that as we were rushing a bit, being pressed by the flight behind, and I had just faded my shot into the right rough (you can see my friend on the right pointing out my ball Laughing )

I'll make a note of that next time. Cool

Cheers.

Certainly, I am not a good golfer, so my ball tends to hole-in-one (bunker). Probably on this, i have my own concept of playing at bunkers.

When I ball is at bunker, I will determine:

1st, is it soft or hard
2nd, heavy sand or light sand, dry or wet
3rd, height of the bunker
4th, ball position in bunker: center, front or back
5th, rolling distance to the green.

so there are many factors for me to consider before I play my bunker shot. of cos I may also to screw up the shot too.

No wonder I screw up my bunker shots. I think abt different things:
- will I mis-hit this shot soft or hard
- is my forehead dry or wet, or do I have to wipe my sweat again
- the height of my score so far, and how it will climb much higher after this hole
- which other bunker I will land in after I hit this bunker shot: center bunker, front bunker, or back bunker
- driving distance to the halfway hut; I'm getting hungry from all this stress...

Laughing Laughing Laughing

But seriously, thanks for the useful insight bro. The trickiest shot for me from Sunday's game was hardpan, high lip, and little green to work with. I need to find a way to get the ball up quickly and land with little roll.

This darn thing is so hard to master.... but I love it so!

actually, playing off the wet bunker is the easiest...cos the sand is compact, and it's really hard to duff the shot Smile
but then again, what do i know Smile

Lee, with that case, i will have a little open, club face near to ball, so the ball can traject high and little roll.

Lee,

I play horrendous bunker golf. In ....and outside of them Very Happy

Over the weekend, I have just grounded down the heel of my 55*. Also will try a more compact setup and swing to achieve a high and short lob. A combo of equipment and swing tweak to 'pick' the ball.

Alternatively, can't we used a 60* wedge instead?

Pup,

A 60* did work for me, only once LOL! It was off wet n hard sand which is equivalent to dry fairway.
Ya, low bounce won't do nuts in powdery sand.

Thanks...

I believe 60 deg is not easy to play and only if you're a regular golfer with a pretty decent swing. I have personally given up hope on my 60 Deg....hahaha....perhaps I should also give up on myself.... Very Happy
