The easiest is to tag along with friend. As of any ssports, you will get hooked if you have a ggroup of like minded people to support you. I got started also due to friends. They lend me golf set which I highly recommend for new comer. You don't want to invest money on something that you are not sure of continuing long term. Try lending from friends or family - a lot of golfer collect many equipment and end up in store room. Or you can buy loose iron - 7 iron, pitching..

Then head to driving range and whack some balls.

Based on my experience the best way to the game is get a good coach. Start that early if can.

Good luck with the game. I'm sure you will like it.

Thank you Azri, sure tag along with friends. Btw, all my friends said that better to learn from pro. coach with proper and right way of swing. If not, i will never improve my skill as all their skill will confuse me.
What is the coach fee for pro. coach ? Someone must know how to teach.

Thank you.

I've taken:

- Group coaching about rm400 I think for 8-10 ssession.. It bore me down and the coach only see you for 10-15 minutes per session. I quit about the 6th session.. This is when I started playing.
- last year I had swing fix session, personal coaching at rsh Mizuno center monterez - rm450 for 3 session. Per session 1 hour. It's based on prior assessment. Saw improvement
- early this year got short game session at same place.. Same price 3 session and 1 free driver session. Wedge play and putting. Improved my short game.. Lesser 3 putt this days.

Shop around. For me cheap not necessarily good. Good not necessarily cheap. The forum also has several coaches that you can approach.

For those fairly new and itching to go down to the course and hack away - try Amverton Cove at Pulau Carey - it's a beginners friendly course, not very long and usually not that crowded as well.
Now Ramadan offer at 98 for weekdays and Sun afternoon is quite a decent price.

the coaching fee is ranging from RM150 - RM300 per lesson. Depends the coach reputation. If you have the budget, please go ahead to start with the proper lesson.

Some instructors charge cheaper, as cheap as RM100 per lesson. but do a survey first before engaging any coach. get a really reputable instructor, because I can ensure you therefore many out there are "cari makan" type.

also, if you are serious in golf, get a pair of golf shoes, spike or spikeless, and glove to begin your practise.

A good idea to start with a coach / pro. You will definitely enjoy the game much more.

Go monterez, look for James from Mizuno school. Or Tropicana, JNG, there are plenty of good 1.
The Mines, look for Steven Guiliano

The monterez rsh Mizuno center already closed down. They even removed all their facilities there. There are new club fitter there. It's a pity cos they even have flightscope for fitting. James moved on to work in Bangkok. Iqbal (club fitter) now doing own business.

I know cos I'm one of student there. I frequent the range too as its close to my place.

There are few local pros available for hire still in Monterez. You can ask the driving range counter for them.

Just kidding.... But seriously if you want to play good golf, better take up lessons from teaching pro with experience ,if not, you will be probably regret like most of us....

Till now, still stubborn to take up lessons , as not easy to fix bad habits
