It is true that KGNS has many members above the age of 65. This is due to the fact many of the old members have been members since the 70s. The golf course is not easy comparatively if played from the blue tees. The serangoon greens are hard to read as they are grainy. The greens on the Kelana course have more undulations then the greens on the Putra Course. The size of the greens are big. Most of them average 30-40m in length. Over the years the Putra course has been made more difficult due to the increase length and more ponds being constructed.
I played at KGNS couple of times. It is the best course for me simply because it just 2 minute away from my office.
The course is relatively easy especially for hard hitters. Hardly any water hazard ( only for one or two holes). The green is superb, very consistent and speed around 9.5. Mostly the members are senior golfers, the seem 'sombong', but once you know them, they are actually very nice people. The dont drive that far, but the beat you on chipping and putting.
I like for the fact it allows you to walk, at least i can claim golf is an exercise. Green fee a little bit stiff. I was informed, KGNS traffic is highest in Malaysia and mostly from members. I guess that's why they dont really encourage outsiders.
