To all sifu here ,

My swing speed is around average 90mph and i am planning to purchase a fairway wood either 3 wood or 5 wood .
But i dun know what kind of shaft stiffness should i go for...
I went to a few shop which tell me all the different kind of products and shaft..
Some say regular with D0 , and some say regular with D1 or D2...
I really worry to buy some stuff that dun suit me at all...
I am actually looking at Nike fairway which is Japan Spec and the shaft there printed is for D0
I know my iron shaft NSPro 950GH is tune to D0 , but this is for steel shaft...
And i check with my Taylormade Superfast US spec shaft which i get the information from internet saying is for D8 swing...
Now i am like ???? cause the superfast US spec is kind of soft for me...
My previous set of iron which is Titleist 690MB and it come with NSPro950GH and custom to C9...
Any advise....pls help

I only know that with swing speed of 90 mph...u need STIFF shaft. D0 or D1 does not matter.
A Japan regular spec is usually soft regular. just beware.

BenHogan,

Sorry that I can't spare much time to give you a comprehensive explanation as it involve substantial explanation. A short answer will not help.

Short of going to a clubfitter, and if you want to self learn, may I suggest you surf the net and read up on swing weight and flex. Don't miss out CPM (Cycle Per Minute). There are different school of thought about these subject.

Don't be too hung up on how and what each brand is labelling their shaft. There is no industry standard and even in a batch of 'R' flex shaft, there will be a few that are softer or stiffer.

By understanding SW, Flex and CPM you'll be clear as to how choosing shaft should be approached.

Just my 2sens.

If you are a beginner and experimenting, then I have Snake Eyes Fireforged 3 & 5 woods with Penley Shafts pulled from Sonartec woods.

I can sell both for a low low price of RM150

Ben dude... i think you're confusing swingweight with flex.. same goes to the flex with the weight of the shaft.. just because the flex is stiff doesn't mean that the shaft has to be heavier..
My advise is that if you find that your current driver shaft suits you well then you will not go wrong with the fwy woods of the same family. However, the only way to be sure that a club suits you is the old fashion way... by trial n error...hehe..
Hey...experimenting is fun..that way you'll be a club ho in no time.
Cheers.

Here are the pics. Note that the 5Wood face is just dirty and can be cleaned. Both have not been used for more than 6 rounds and have been sitting in the store room. You can view it.
