Shah Alam, 14 July 2019: Kota Permai Golf & Country Clubís (KPGCC) annual Club Championships this year provided two thrilling weekends of golfing prowess, with the Senior & Ladies Championships on July 6 & 7 and the Menís Championship from July 12 to 14 witnessing a total of 228 players squaring-off in one of the most highly-anticipated events on the Clubís golfing calendar, all vying for the coveted crowns of Club Champions.

With the well-manicured course running at 12 on the Stimpmeter, the Championships teed-off spectacularly with a field of 120 comprising 24 ladies and 96 seniors going head-to-head in their respective tournaments in pursuit of coveted top spots that were up for contention.

2019 Ladies Champ Doris Yee

The Ladiesí crown was bagged by Doris Yee Shoo Feng (7) after an 80 on day 1 and 81 on day 2 provided her with a total of 161 to leap ahead by seven shots over her closest competitor Datoí Azlina Abdul Aziz (8) who carded an 87 and an 81, respectively. Judy Kong Keng Joo (12) rounded-up the top three gross performers for the fairer sex on 176 (90-86).

Doris, who came in third last year, was ecstatic as this marked a fantastic comeback to the winnerís podium after a 9-year wait to claim her fifth Ladies Champion crown having previously won in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010.

The Nett category was pocketed by Ang Kwi Eng (24) who seized the title on 146 nett, just one point ahead of Hannah Azuree (17) who took the runner-upís spot, while Nur Syamsinar (27) settled in third after finishing on 150 nett.

2019 Senior Champ Pua Yii Shiuan

Over at the Seniors showdown, last yearís final day co-leader Pua Yii Shiuan (6) finally bagged his long-awaited victory when he clinched the Gross title on a total of 154 (80-74). Eric Foo Hwa Peng (6) took runner-up honours with a 159 (80-79) on countback, with Goh Kian Yong (8) settling in third spot (80-79).

The Nett category saw Goh Tiong Hwee (14) take first place on 138 nett, four points ahead of Chan Heng Voen (9), while Lok Ming Fatt (23) occupied third spot on 144 nett.

2019 Men's Champ Jimmy Chia

The Menís Championship saw Jimmy Chia Kee Joo, Raimon Arvindra and defending champ Alan Chong Chek Fei in a three-way tie going into day 2, but it was Jimmy Chia who stole the limelight the rest of the way.

A scratch golfer, Chia (77-77-78) seized the Menís title by a seven-shot victory over 1-handicapper Alan
Chong (77-85-77), while Thomas Michael Henson (6) signed in 83-79-81 for third spot on countback. With his win, Jimmy holds the highest record of the Menís Champion title with 8 wins to his name.

The Nett title was bagged by Chang Thean Siang (7) on 224 nett (72-72-80), just a point clear of last yearís Senior champ Tajudin Supian (6) who posted rounds of 74-76-75 for his runner-up spot on countback. Coming in third was 9-handicapper Lim Yeow Leng (71-78-76).

Curtains to the prize presentation ceremony on the 18th green were lifted to the blaring horns of an army of Predators on scrambler bikes, who declared battle with a trio of superheroes i.e. Batman, Ironman and Wonder Woman arriving to escort the winners to the red carpeted presentation area. All three champions were presented with their customary championsí green jackets and challenge trophies by Director of Club Operations Tang Meng Loon and Golf Committee Chairman Ng Say Hoe.

As dusk arrived, the merriment continued indoors within the comforts of the Permai ballroom where
everyone was treated to good food, great fun and fantastic prizes at the traditional prize presentation dinner, which capped off another memorable edition of the KPGCC annual Club Championships.
