The New EPIC FLASH by Callaway Artificial Intelligence, Real Ball Speed
Callaway Golf Malaysia through Leonian Singapore has announced their new series of driver and wood here in Malaysia, following their recent launch for South East Asia in Bangkok – The EPIC FLASH. Available at all retailers from March 2019 onwards.
The new Epic Flash driver employs a new Callaway technology called “Flash Face” to help golfers get more ball speed for more distance. It’s that great feeling a golfer gets when they make a good swing and crush one off the tee, it’s the Flash Face that makes the ball go faster and farther.
The Flash Face’s unique, internal mapping consists of dozens of subtle ripples flowing from heel to toe. Though the size, height and configuration of the ripples appear random, they in fact work together cohesively to elevate coefficient of restitution (COR) in the face’s center region. That convention-defying accomplishment results in a significant ball speed boost for a noticeable distance increase when you make solid contact, helping make your longest drives go even longer.
The Flash Face’s sophisticated architecture was created by Artificial Intelligence – the first known instance of using A.I. in the golf equipment industry and “Machine Learning,” a field of computer science that uses statistical techniques to give computer systems the ability to "learn" with data without being explicitly programmed. A new driver face design typically takes eight to ten iterations. Through Machine Learning our computers cycled through 15,000 face architecture iterations, learning from each one, before arriving at Flash Face.
The distinctive topography on the inner side of the Flash Face is forged from a special titanium and heat treated at 595 Celsius (1100F) for two hours to create a face that combines a low modulus measurement, for flexibility and speed, with excellent strength properties.
The Epic Flash driver also incorporates Callaway’s revolutionary Jailbreak technology that promotes fast, face-wide speed. The two internal, hourglass-shaped Jailbreak bars that connect the crown to the sole, stabilizing and stiffening those two parts at impact, allowing the face to take on greater impact load to generate faster ball speed. Together, Flash Face and Jailbreak make the EPIC FLASH one of the most innovative and technologically advanced drivers in Callaway history.
Epic Flash also incorporates a new triaxial carbon fabric, called T2C, which has a tighter weave that allows us to take weight from the crown and reposition strategically in the head to create high MOI that promotes better distance and accuracy performance on mis-hits.
Epic Flash also benefits from Callaway’s proven Adjustable Perimeter Weighting, with a 16-gram sliding weight that can be easily positioned anywhere on the built-in track at the rear of the club head. The golfer can promote draws, fades or a straighter flight by positioning the weight in different places on the track.

Epic Flash: 16g Adjustable Perimeter Weighting system gives golfers the power to easily promote draws, fades or a straighter flight.
Epic Flash Sub Zero: 12g Adjustable Perimeter Weighting system gives golfers the power to easily promote draws, fades or a straighter flight. Visible fixed weight placed forward in the sole pulls CG lower and forward to reduce spin.
Epic Flash Star (JV): A model that is only available in the Asia market and for a wider range of golfers. Comes with non-adjustable hosel and available in two loft options and several shaft options.

The EPIC FLASH Fairway Woods
The new EPIC FLASH fairway woods feature Callaway’s groundbreaking new Flash Face Technology to help golfers of every level and swing speed get more speed and distance.
Callaway took the insights acquired from using Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and Machine Learning in their drivers and applied it to Epic Flash fairways creating a new fairway wood face design that promotes increased ball speed for longer distance.
The new fairways utilize an ultra-thin, forged Carpenter 455 steel Face Cup and incorporate our new Flash Face technology. The result is a uniquely designed clubface that’s expressly engineered for high COR across a large area, to promote fast ball speed on both center and off-center hits.
The innovative Jailbreak Technology is also incorporated with two internal bars that stiffen the body, placing more impact load on the face to for fast ball speed.
Callaway designed an entirely new hosel system that is shorter and lighter. The saved weight in this new OptiFit hosel helps to reposition the CG for easy launch and long-carrying flight and allows us to combine Jailbreak and adjustability for the first time in a fairway wood.
Meanwhile the EPICH FLASH Sub Zero fairway wood combines all of the ground breaking technologies of the Epic Flash fairway wood with precision shot-shaping technology for high swing speed players. Adjustable sole weighting (14g & 2g) allows you to control spin, launch and trajectory.
The EPIC Flash fairway woods are available in multiple premium shafts and weights – 40g and 50g. Lofts include 3 / 15°, 5 /18°, 7 / 21° and 9 / 23°.
