Read about this yesterday. http://www.golfdigest.com/blogs/the-loop/2015/03/weird-golf-news-swedish-golf-ban.html

It seems, the Swedish Golf Federation has banned a swedish golfer from playing golf, on any course in Sweden for 1 year! His offence? Hitting a shot that struck a golfer who was in front.

I can't imagine such a ban ever being issued here in Malaysia though. Laughing

Personally, it does annoy me when golfers are hitting up from behind (close) when we are playing at a reasonable pace. Although, I think 12 months is a tad harsh.. Perhaps 6 months would have been more appropriate.

What do you guys think? And on that note, what about habitually 'slow' players?

I think that's reasonable.. Considering the danger.. Sometimes ppl forget that some ppl want to have fun good times on the course.. Habitual slow players should learn to let ppl pass.. But again marshal in MY lousy lah.. They only know how to warn you becos shirt come off, tuck it back. That's it.

Bro, no matter how slow group in front, you cannot intentionally or "carelessly" endanger their lives. If they are slow, make a complaint to the marshall la. Sometimes the whole course is jammed up so no group can actually move faster. The good marshalls will usually observe a hole or two to determine the cause of slow play.

I get very pissed when groups behind act like the are so great because they have caught up and look like they want to kill u when it is the groups further ahead holding everybody up. One day someone might get unlucky Evil or Very Mad .

whatever the reason is.. it is unacceptable to put somebody safety as risk..

like what our brother said above.. the habitual slow players shall allow the faster flight to pass them..

This depends on what the club policy is. KRP has this rule that anybody hitting a ball towards the front flight and landing within 30 m will be suspended. I have seen notices of suspended members with their photos pasted up. As Krp is a members club, members have quite good protection.

Other clubs eg ss want the maximun no of players so they allow any player on the course without knowledge of the rules and etiquette meaning NO HANDICAP CARD. Its like a unlicensed driver happily commiting mayhem on the roads and highways.

Of course they are players who do not have a H card but are knowlegeble.

wow! had no idea KRP had such a rule. Do they have a similar rule for 'slow' players?

Yea, realize ss can be very jammed. It's a good course for the price you pay so I am not surprised. The no handicap thing is becoming common now though. Clubs really need to have good marshals who can move things along if required. Easier said then done though..
