Hi guys,

Looking to change my wedges as they are quite an old model.
Currently using Bridgestones (cant remember which model) 52 and 56 degrees.

Any wedges to recommend which are reasonably priced? Also what degree of wedges do you guys
usually carry in the bag?

Thanks.

Hi there bro,

It's SALES season now. Plenty of stuff out there ie wedges. You can check out Mizuno and Nike Wedges at 1U Bargain corner. Ranges from 52 to 60 degs and from RM200+ only.

But i feel Cleveland and Callaway wedges are still the most reasonable ones. Ranging from RM300 to low RM400 if i'm not mistaken. MST, RGT and Transview carry them. If you have more budget, you can try Titleist Vokey Wedges (more pricey).

Am currently using Titleist Vokey 56.08 SM4 (2014 model) - RM225 only brand new! Got it from stock clearance.

Good luck!

Hi there,

Thanks for the info. I used to carry Fourteen 52 & 56 but kena stolen at Horizon Johor (so please be careful as once game over immediately put bag into car). So I'm hoping to look at those again but the prices has increased a lot since then. Hopefully can get a good deal again!

Pretty much most of the branded wedges are good so it's not about the brand. More about the sole design, bounce and grind.

However for M'sia wet courses, i strongly suggest a high bounce wedge. For a 56deg, i'd look at >10deg bounce.
But you'll have to consider your swing/technique. So many variables.

Personally, i love Mizuno wedges compared to Vokeys. I think the Clevelands are really good as well.

Finally, wedge choices should be more towards how it fills your gap from you PW onwards. If you carry your PW 100m, then you want a wedge (maybe a 52deg) that will carry 80m for you and then a 56deg to carry 60m.

The problem is if you have new friendlier irons, the PW loft is crazy strong. So there is a big gap now compared to the olden days.

Go for the Vokey wedges. Titleist does fitting sessions very often in Klang Valley, so if you are based in Klang Valley go get yourself fitted for a set of SM5!!

I have three sets of wedges - Fit-on Double forged (52 & 56), Cleveland (52, 56 & 60), and recently acquired Miura K-Grind (52 & 56).

Personally, I like the Miura K-Grind but its very expensive. Next best and value-for-money, Cleveland RTX 2.0.
