Hi Azeem, it depends on what work you want done. It can be as low as RM5 per club if you merely want to adjust lie/loft angles but can cost more if you want to adjust other things like weight/length/grip size/etc.

you mentioned you are begineer, I dunno how long you already played golf.

there are 2 reasons why you cannot get the distance

1. your swing itself is the problem
2. the golf set you are using is not suitable

fixing number 2 is faster. fitting a new club will help your ball direction, ball penetration and distance. distance wise, you may gain a few meter.

Fixing number 1 is a long process. if you do not have the proper swing, the fitting will only give your limited benefits. you cannot expect fitting could help to sure your slice and hook entirely.

hahaha... typical golfer nemesis... distance.

my advise is forget about it... the funny thing about the law of golf....
when you think you are not playing golf. cos when you think don't hit to the right and guess what you will shank to right (for right hand golfer) so u learn the lesson and get smarter now u think I need to hit straight... guess what?.... you are correct its not going straight. So what do you think when you wanted to bomb your drive and split the fairway? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

thinking only is done on course management. I read a book 30 sec golf swing.. that is a great book for any newbie. cos it has work sheet to profile your learning thru a very organize stats and practices.

golf is not about distance... need to stop thinking about distance when you are not on a course... cos if you do stop thinking abt distance while you are on a course... then you are thinking subconsciously.

I am old fart members who hit 3 on (PAR 4) and still PAR with a putt... tht drive me nuts when I am GIR and make bogey.

sorry deviate from the original post... club fitting is relatively cheap in Malaysia.. spline tune at Golfsmith I believe its $25 per club... and to me its bullshit...
Pros do it for a reason... and for us its about making profit out of us only.

if you have no physical disabilities, ie past car accident etc, then definitely your golf swing needs to be worked on based on the distance you hit the 9 iron. i suggest you spend your money on golf lessons rather than fitting.. because fitting cannot increase your distance..on a side note, distance is not related to low scores.
at this point, u have to know where you are hitting the ball on the clubface. you also should be able to tell between a fat or thin or a hosel shot. these things are more important

Definitely swing is important. From my experience I have a friend who's swing is ok, and not small size guy also, about same size and age as me but hit a lot shorter than me. Then I found out he's using graphite shaft when his swing speed should be quite high, so I suggest him to change set to a Steel Shaft. Now he's getting similar distances to me already. So maybe go to range with friends who have other type of shaft to test out first!

If you can hit 90 meters straight with 9 iron all the time, your game can improve much quicker. You are likely to be in trouble if you hit 120 meters with 9 iron but the next shot you hit 130 meters.

In my opinion, club fitting is essential. If you do not have a consistent swing yet, just tell a fitter to follow Ping fitting guidelines.

Agreed. Consistency is the key!

But curious, you mention Ping fitting guideline? Why?

In my opinion, that is the best alternative to determine shaft length and lie angle if a person does not have a consistent swing yet.
